Get in on the ground floor of a well-funded, high-octane startup in the online games industry! Position Requirements: This position reports to the Network Vice President. We’re looking for a passionate designer is responsible for defining the usability, look and feel of the portal and working with marketing and product development to help create a distinctive online brand for our company. The various components of the portal will include account management, advertising, streaming media content, a sophisticated marketplace for users to buy products, a flash-based sports game and social networking (i.e. chat, blogs, forums etc.). The portal should trend towards a hip, edgy and distinctive look that appeals to a younger (18-45 yr. old) demographic. The candidate should be able to conceptualize and create brand-consistent, attractive and easy-to-use interface components including: wire-frames, layouts, patterns, color palettes, typography, iconography and workflows. Our team is first and foremost a team of entrepreneurs. The ideal candidate must be able to think fast on their feet, entrepreneurial, creative and willing to adapt to a fast-moving market. Candidates should be comfortable leading a team of skilled graphic designers and working with other departments (e.g. marketing, art, game design etc.). An instinct for creating usable, highly-polished and visually arresting web pages is a must. A passion for sports and games is a plus. Qualifications: • 3-5 years of professional web development experience of which at least 2 years should be at a senior level. • Portfolio of high-quality, commercial/entertainment web-sites and pages • Ability to rapidly develop design solutions from conceptual ideas and create visually appealing prototypes • Proficiency to expertise with Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Fireworks • Proficiency with HTML/XML/CSS • Excellent interaction design skills and experience creating site flows and architecture diagrams • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to write high-quality specifications • Bachelor’s degree in a design related discipline: Interaction, Interface or Graphic Design Valued Skills: • Prior experience in the entertainment industry, particularly having launched a site as a senior designer • Knowledge of cross-platform browser compatibility restrictions and requirements. • Proficiency with Flash and ActionScript 2.0/3.0 If you want to join our team email hr@playhard.net with your resume and this position title in the subject line. © 2008 Play Hard Sports, Inc.
